Begin with the end in mind

Begin with the end in mind. That is what Stephen R. Covey says. (The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, 1989). When you decide on carrying out something, think of the outcome you'd like to see.

Another batch of Form 5s are going to be leaving KUSESS soon. All with your dreams of the future. To shape that future, it boils down to how you're going to go about realising it. Amongst it, perhaps, would be selecting where you'd like your alma mater to be, where you'd like to graduate from. Look up universities that are offering the courses of your choice. Seek out the place...if you have a university in mind, look it up.

Once you do that, identify the criteria for acceptance. Come up with S.M.A.R.T goals - Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, Timely http://www.topachievement.com/smart.html

By the time your results come out, you will hopefully have options A, B, C...etc. After you're done jumping up and down, look at your options once again. Talk to your parents, ex-teachers, seniors, friends, grandparents. Listen to the feedback, weigh it, compare it to the plan you have in hand. You may have to alter your plan coz you may not be able to go with the options on paper or you may get offered things you never even in your wildest dreams thought it would be possible. Next, go forth and make it a reality. Remember at the end of the day, its your life. So make the best choice that will help you live your best life..:)

These S.M.A.R.T goals are not only for those seeking out universities; they are for anything and everything you set your heart on. It forces you to take a hard look at your situation and become very realistic. Some are put off because they say that its too hard. However, if you want it bad enough, you'll rise to the challenge.
